The last World Rally Championship event is on in Western Australia, with the final Telstra Rally Australia tearing up the town this October 2006. The nation's hottest new sports models have been out in force wooing the crowds on the Telstra Rally Australia catwalk and participating in the Miss Rally Australia 2006 National Final.

2006 will be the last time that Miss Rally Australia will be held in Perth as Telstra Rally Australia celebrates its 19th and final year in Western Australia.

Miss Rally Australia is a sports modelling competition held in clubs and pubs around Australia in search of the sports model that best represents Telstra Rally Australia. In 2006, hundreds of competitors will strut their stuff at over 30 heats and semi finals Australia-wide. Be a part of the crowd that cheers them to victory and enjoy all the action including live DJs, and bands.

Ten finalists got the once in a lifetime opportunity to work as Telstra Rally Australia promotional models, participating in nightly fashion parades and working alongside the world's best rally drivers and photographers.

The Winner is Melissa Byrne of Bayswater Perth W.A. who was crowned Miss Rally Australia 2006 at the National Final at The Shed, Aberdeen Street, Northbridge on Friday 27 October 2006.

Melissa Byrne is a stunning 25 year old brunette with green hazel eyes, standing 5'3", who would like to travel to Europe, Italy & France. She is hopeful to further her modelling career with the Miss Rally Australia win & as a late starter in modelling wants to become become a professional model of national & international standard. The extensive local and international media coverage and exposure that Miss Rally Australia finalists receive has provided previous winners with the confidence to take the next step in their modelling careers. The 2004 Miss Rally Australia winner, Sheridyn Fisher, went on to win a number of sports modelling competitions and appeared in a range of publications including Ralph, Rally Sport Magazine and Fuel. The 2005 winner, Kitty Graciet, has recently embarked on an overseas trip where she will compete in the International Miss Planet Beach Competition in Los Angeles.
